The Resident Executive Council ("REC") meets monthly with Executive Director in order to present issues to him in a formal manner. Typically these are issues that have been brought to the REC's attention by their meetings with the Resident Committee Chairs. All residents are invited to attend any of the Resident Committee meetings. Their meeting information is listed on the Resident Committees page. In contrast, the REC meets with just the Committee Chairs and then Executive Director in private due to various confidential matters that are often discussed.
Generally, the REC meeting minutes are not made a matter of widespread distribution due to the sensitive matters that are often discussed. Decisions made by the Executive Director as a result of these meetings are usually announced at a scheduled meeting of residents (five per month) or modifications made to the official Resident Handbook which is revised on an as-needed basis. Please visit our "Resident Handbook" page for additional information.
Election activity regarding the five REC positions begins in October when nominations are solicited. Voting is held in November with each officer being elected for a one-year term starting in January. It is unclear if there are term limits imposed upon REC officers regarding a second year of service.
