Dining Information

The dining schedule and offerings will be disrupted for an unknown period of time because of proposed modifications of service and pickup times. As of August 18, 2025 the Dining committee has unanimously voted to go on hiatus following their stated inability to make any meaningful contibutions regarding the improvement of numerous dining issues. Since that time there have been some indications that big changes are ahead. But it's just too early to speculate about the end result.

The Resident Executive Council would like Residents to fill out their dining Comment Cards as often as possible. Good or bad, your opinions are welcomed. Staff needs to be aware of what you think about your meal and its service. Otherwise they won't know if what they are doing works or doesn't. You should receive a Comment Card when you get your meal ticket. Or you can ask for one at the Hostess' desk on the way out. For your convenience you can print one out by using the button below and returning it the next day. You are not required to submit your name if you don't want to. In any event, you can drop your Comment Card off at the suggestion box by the entrance to the Sterling.

Static Menu

Maybe the current Static Menu ("8.25.25") deserves some classic TLC. Here's why:

The menu states "Dinner Menu" but the offerings may also be ordered at Lunch.

The former Soup of the Day listings have been removed because the morning cooks decide that day what it is going to be. So there's allegedly no time to get it publicized on Community Engagement. You'll need to check it out in person on the chalkboard at the entrance to the Sterling. Really!

The Lunch/Dinner menu also offers "Meatball Mariana" which, as you might expect, comes with three meatballs. It offers subsititions of chicken or shrimp for a price, but you can't get them in place of the meatballs -- you have to pay extra. You ARE entitled to the meatballs anyway so you might as well take them home. But you gotta ask! The best way to ensure that you receive your meatballs is to order them "on the side" when you specify the chicken or shrimp. They will make three very tasty sandwiches for you or a meat-loving friend.

Other Tips 'n' Tricks

Charley's menu is the same for lunch and dinner.

The paper bags which are used for meal pickup can not be reused. Please don't return them to the dining room. They can be recycled as you would other paper products.

There are three different menus for both Sterling and Heritage dining rooms.

The "Static" menu is available for both lunch and dinner. This menu is always available and also lists the soup of the day.

The "Daily Specials" menu is available for dinner only and features the two items available for just the specified day. Items on this menu cannot be ordered for lunch.

The "Weekly Specials" menu lists the soup and dinner of the week.

Looking for the Suggestion or Comment Box for either the Sterling or Heritage dining rooms? It's located just to the right of the entrance to the Sterling dining room. Thanks to the "Midnight Labeler" it is more clearly identified now.

Dining Reservations

You may call the appropriate phone number or go to Community Engagement. If the latter, go to the "Dining" tag and then "Sterling Dining Reservations".

Private Dining Room

You may reserve the Private Dining Room (located in Charley's Corner) for your own special event. It seats about 8 and with prior reservations and consultation with the Executive Chef you may create a custom menu. Contact dining staff for additional information.
