Lagniappe - Something Extra
Definition
Wikipedia defines "lagniappe" as "A small gift given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase (such as a 13th doughnut on
purchase of a dozen), or more broadly, something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure. It can be used more generally
as meaning any extra or unexpected benefit.
The word entered English from the Louisiana French adapting a Quechua word brought in to New Orleans by the Spanish Creoles." (Source:

Did You Know?
Random information that you might otherwise have missed:
- Touchmark provides a free online account for you to read issues of the Prescott Daily Courier. Please contact the Resident Services
department to obtain sign-in information.
- If you need something in your home repaired, the best way to ensure that your request gets to Building Services is to call the Front Desk
and ask them to open a "Work Order".
- On your landline you can dial "0" for the Front Desk.
- Hit "#" on your phone to bypass long dining room answering machine announcements.
- When trying to get into the Grand Lodge when using the door located in the southwest corner of the Motor Court, you'll need to use your key
card and a special technique. Before the door will actually open, you should first give it a push and then the necessary pull.
- Everybody likes to see the deer wander through our campus but please don't feed them. That only encourages them to hang around and
eat the flowers and leaves on our young trees.
A Collection of Odd Things
The following items are true:
- The Private Dining room has glass walls on two sides.
- When you use your Community Engagement app (which might be titled either "CareMerge" or "Community") it first takes you to a screen
titled "Icon" which loads a screen titled "Loading Community Engagement" which in turn opens the "goicon.com" website. No wonder everyone
calls it by a different name.
- All telephones on the Touchmark campus may be reached by dialing just the listed four-digit number. Except for Charley's. To call them you
have to dial 928-800-4347.
- Several meeting rooms in the Grand Lodge have been assigned numbers that are not in sequence with the Home numbers on the same floor.
